Alex was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and moved to New Mexico in 2010. Over the last eight years, he has conducted molecular biology research resulting in several peer reviewed publications. He received a Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of New Mexico in 2014 and completed the requirements for an MBA in 2018. He completed his PhD in December 2021 and formed a company, Circular Genomics, to commercialize his dissertation research the day after his thesis defense.

Alex served as EquiSeq's CEO from 2018 to 2021. He learned more in his first six months at EquiSeq than in two years in the MBA program at the University of New Mexico. He is excited to be a part of the Albuquerque startup community, and to be working with EquiSeq's strategic partners. In his free time, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling around the world, and exploring New Mexico.
