Since 2000, Paul has worked in mammalian genomics and bioinformatics. He obtained a BS in Biological Sciences from Carnegie-Mellon University and a PhD in Genetics from the University of Washington before undertaking postdoctoral research in molecular biology at MIT. Following several academic positions as an independent researcher in Drosophila genetics, he transitioned to genomics and bioinformatics as part of Mouse Genome Informatics at The Jackson Laboratory. In 2011, he relocated to the University of New Mexico, working as Training Director for FlyBase and teaching genetics and bioinformatics.
In 2015, he founded EquiSeq. He received a practical education in startup methodology in the ABQid business accelerator using the EquiSeq business model. Paul is EquiSeq's Chief Scientific Officer, working closely with EquiSeq's collaborators and strategic partners to direct EquiSeq's research activities.
